Why do all the Firefox people hate Internet Explorer? I see a lot of questions about Internet Explorer, and no matter how simple the question, there’s always a dozen users that post "Use Firefox because IE sucks and it deserves to burn in the bowels of hades for all eternity and Bill Gates is the antichrist" instead of posting something useful. I personally use both on a daily basis, and I like them both equally. Firefox is a great alternative, but I like IE too, and as long as I’ve been using it, I’ve NEVER had a problem with it crashing or installing viruses or anything of the like. So my question is, to all the die-hard Firefoxers, what terrible experiences have you had with Internet Explorer that has fouled your opinion so badly? Is your system just so ridden with spyware, trojans, corrupt files, and virii that the stability of IE has been adversely affected?
Seriously people, what’s the deal? Please post something useful so I can see your point of view.
Ok, I may have exaggerated a bit on the "Use Firefox because…" part of my description — but I have seen a lot of those answers in any IE problem thread. You guys have great input. I’ll go through it in a day or 2 and pick a winner.
I suspect that it’s an Open Source vs Microsoft ideological thing. I work for a software company that uses both open source and also Microsoft dev tools and I see a lot of that Firefox thing among the open source community. References :
That is funny, I have never seen anyone post that answer. The reason most people switch to Firefox is that it has many add-ons, is more secure, faster, and at one stage during the update to IE7 many machines crashed using it. I still find people using USB modems for broadband have problems with it. It is also much more compliant with industry standards for html and it’s derivatives. I still use IE on occasion, particularly for Microsoft based sites, which seem to believe there is no other browser. References :
Indeed, I agree with you. I went thru the FF-only IE-sucks stage too… =) In fact, to me FF seems to get a bit slower with every update lately. I do use both, but right now, to tell you the truth, mostly IE7. That’s my experience anyway. Happy New Year! ☼ References :
Well, I am not one of those IE haters but the reason I use Firefox for everything non-Microsoft is simple. I have had too many Active-x controls install things without my knowledge or consent and then had my anti-virus lock up my comp to keep it from finishing the install. Then when I would do a full system check it would take too long to clean back up. With Firefox I don’t have near the problems and it is much more configurable, plus I love the add-ons that run where I want them. References :
I used to be a Firefox person. At one time I hated IE with a passion because if I asked it to clear the cache and history it never did it. Also the pre-IE7 versions…if wanted needed to view more than one thing at a time you had to open 2 browser windows causing more performance reduction than a single window with 2 tabs.
Now there is IE7 which I have been using for quite some time. I don’t know about anyone else but I like it. It works fine…tabs like Firefox, cleans up when asked, also noticed that it loads faster than Firefox. References :
We Firefox users don’t really hate the IE; we just love our browser that’s really neat, safe, and does its job pretty cute. It had tabbed browsing long before Microsoft even thought about introducing it; it has a download manager you’ll have to install as an add-on on IE; it has session restore after a system crash or simply shutdown (yes, it asks you to restore the session once you shut down Windows and start it up again, and you’ll be right back to where you were the night before). It blocks popup windows by default and allows you to install add-ons that won’t interfere with the whole system. And if you don’t like it, you can remove it without a trace, and your bookmarks will be smoothly transferred to the IE.
Now tell me: Is there another browser in the world that can do that? Is there? References :

I’m not a die-hard Firefox user. It does have its pros and cons like Internet Explorer. Firefox crashes on me quite a few times for no reason and it’s slow to load certain java applets from websites that uses them all the time unfortunately or it freezes because of that compared to Internet Explorer. However, I like using it more because it has a lot of very useful addons and search engines that are free. Whereas the new tabbed Internet Explorer version does allow addons but they are mostly payware between $15 to $30 each from what I’ve seen. So forget it. I only use IE if I’m saving a website in HTML format. References :
Lol I know what you mean. I’ve seen so many answers like that. I dont know why exactly, but Firefox is the superior browser for me simply because my computer is old with not alot of RAM and it just goes so much faster than IE on my computer. Plus I like the add ons for Firefox, such as ad blocker plus. Its a great feature because I have never seen that " annoying GAP ad" everyones complaining about lol.and its got some cool themes you can install on it to make the look of the browser something you like and not have to look at the plain old stuff all the time. So basically I like the speed and the way I can customize it. But yeah I know what you mean about the die hard Firefox users and their "down with IE!" answers. I don’t know what thats all about either. I still have IE on my desktop and I use it from time to time. References :

Opera sues Microsoft of standards compliance

IE doesn’t have anything to do with Virus or Torjans. You should have a good antivirus and spyware.
Check the below link, a reliable source that shows how Microsoft doesn’t follow any of the global standards. (Heard of Monopoly)
IE is not free like Firefox, it comes with windows and you can’t use it in a Linux system.
Moreover the performance of Firefox is much better, installing it doesn’t need a restart and it doesn’t crash the system if it goes down.
Maybe you have not had this problem, but some of the older Microsoft sites don’t load right on IE (their own browser).
